CCI is reportedly investigating whether Meta has restricted its competitors through data-sharing and high-level policies to the detriment of local start-ups. In 2024, CCI imposed hundreds of millions of dollars in fines on Meta and asked it to adjust part of its operating model, prompting Meta to protest strongly.

Meta’s appointment of an experienced in-house executive, Arun Srinivas, to the Indian market and its clear reporting to Sandhya Devanathan, Senior Vice-President of the two major regions of South-East Asia, highlighted the company’s strategic focus on this high-growth and high-potential market in India. Srinivas ‘ successful experience with advertising commercialization, AI and localized products (Reels) will help Meta further consolidate its position in the digital ecology of India and seize AI-driven growth opportunities.
